The Rock returned to WWE SmackDown one month and two days after teasing a match against Roman Reigns and seemingly confirmed the WrestleMania 40 clash. The brief staredown lasted two minutes, but The Great One had a message for the fans after the show went off the air.

This week on the blue brand, the main event segment saw Cody Rhodes shockingly give up his WrestleMania 40 spot against Roman Reigns by clearly stating that while he intended to target The Tribal Chief, it won’t be at WrestleMania 40. Instead, he brought out The Rock to seemingly set up the real main event of The Show of Shows.

After the two-minute staredown, WWE SmackDown went off the air. Once the cameras stopped rolling, The Rock sent a heartfelt message to the crowd in Birmingham, Alabama.

“This is a city deep in history. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I’m happy to tell you that tonight, all of us made history here in Birmingham, Alabama. Birmingham, I thank you, I love you.”

Despite criticism of the handling of this situation, it can’t be denied that the crowd in Birmingham was hot for what was otherwise a great episode.

The response to The Rock’s return hasn’t been all positive

While the live crowd certainly loved the fact that The Brahma Bull returned to seemingly set up a WrestleMania match against Roman Reigns, the responses online haven’t been as flattering.

It understandably makes very little sense for Cody Rhodes to simply give up his guaranteed spot in the main event of WrestleMania, and it also made many believe that Cody should, in fact, have won last year at WrestleMania 39.

It was a big wrench thrown into Cody’s story, and the entire run he had from post-WrestleMania 39 last year up until now seems to have gone to waste, considering that he specifically avoided World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in order to target the WWE Championship which is now known as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Bayley is currently feuding with Shotzi on WWE programming

WWE Superstar Bayley was recently involved in an interesting exchange with her good friend and colleague, Carmella.

Taking to Instagram, The Role Model reacted to Carmella's recent photos amid her pregnancy. She jokingly questioned if the 35-year-old was willing to hire her as her personal photographer.

In response to this, The Princess of Staten Island hilariously claimed that Bayley's mother is actually her photographer, and she generally prefers her being completely n*de.

"[Bayley] your mom is the photographer! although she prefers when I'm completely n*de," wrote Carmella.

Carmella is currently absent from WWE programming due to pregnancy.

Bayley was furious following yet another loss on this week's WWE SmackDown

During this week's SmackDown, Bayley suffered a loss to Asuka. Following the match, she expressed her frustration towards Charlotte Flair, Shotzi, and The Empress of Tomorrow.

Speaking in a backstage interview, the former SmackDown Women's Champion stated that she wasn't ready for Shotzi and had only prepared herself to face Asuka. She said:

"I was ready for Asuka. I have been wrestling her for almost half of my frickin career. You know who I wasn't ready for? Shotzi. And when I wrestled Shotzi, I wasn't ready for Charlotte.

And when I wrestled Shotzi and Charlotte, I wasn't ready for Asuka because you guys kept interrupting what I was doing. They keep getting into my business. You know what they are doing? They know we are outnumbered because of your beautiful injury, we have to take care of her, and they are taking advantage of us,"

The Damage CTRL leader added:

"They know as bad as you can break them apart, as bad as you can kick their face-off, they know you can't right now. And they know we are weak. That says a lot about you Shotzi, Charlotte, and Asuka.

That says a lot about you guys. We thought you guys were the good guys. We thought you guys were the favorites. These idiots out there love you guys, but in reality, you guys are the bullies. Us? We are the good guys,"

Damage CTRL member IYO SKY is currently feuding with Asuka and will be defending her Women's Championship against her on next week's show.

Cardi B is currently facing a civil trial over an alleged assault and is making efforts to ensure that her financial status, including her net worth, is not brought up during the proceedings.

The rapper has been sued by a female security guard, Emani Ellis, who claims Cardi assaulted her in 2018.

Ellis, who was working at a medical building as a security guard at the time, alleges that she asked Cardi for a photo, which Cardi declined.

According to Ellis, Cardi then attacked her, striking her in the head, face, and body. Ellis also claims that Cardi spat on her and used racial slurs.

According to Ellis’ lawsuit, Cardi used “multiple profanities and racial slurs against [Ellis] who is African American,” Radar reported.

Cardi, however, denies all allegations and has requested that any talk of her past altercations, including the one with Nicki Minaj, be banned from the trial.

She argues that such incidents are unrelated to the case at hand.

Cardi stated that any testimony pertaining to other alleged acts, “which occurred at different times and places and involved other people and circumstances should be excluded because, by law, such evidence cannot show that Defendant acted similarly on this single occasion with Plaintiff.”

The rapper’s lawyer stressed, “What may have happened between Defendant and others at different times and locations and under other circumstances has nothing whatsoever to do with the single 60-90 second incident alleged by Plaintiff on February 24, 2018.”

Furthermore, Cardi has asked the court to exclude any discussion of her financial condition unless punitive damages are being considered. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Cardi’s fortune is estimated at $80 million.

The trial is scheduled to begin on Feb. 1 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Background of the Alleged Assault

The alleged assault took place in 2018 when Cardi B was four months pregnant with her daughter, Kulture. Ellis says she approached Cardi with a phone, to take a picture of the rapper. Cardi asked her to stop, not wanting images of herself at the doctor’s office to be circulated before she had publicly revealed her pregnancy, a source told TMZ.

An argument ensued, and Ellis claimed that Cardi assaulted her, spat on her, and used racial slurs. But witnesses offered a different account, stating that while the two did argue, the altercation did not turn physical, and no racial slurs were used.

Ellis also alleged that Cardi used her celebrity status to have her fired from her job. A representative for the medical building explained that Ellis’ termination was based on recommendations from Cardi’s doctor and a patient coordinator, who believed that Ellis had violated Cardi’s privacy.

Ellis is demanding unspecified damages from Cardi, who has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
