The court order, obtained by Rolling Stone, reveals that Petty’s probation officer recommended placing him in a site monitoring program for close monitoring, limiting his movements, providing a sanction for non-compliance, and encouraging him to reflect on his situation.

Petty agreed to these terms, waiving a personal appearance in court, and Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald ordered him to serve up to 20 days of house arrest in July 2022.

This comes after Petty was previously sentenced to one year of home confinement, three years of probation, and a $55,000 fine for failing to register as a sex offender in California. He had admitted to this failure in a plea deal the previous year.
