After being together for almost three decades, Billy Ray Cyrus announced his divorce from Tish Cyrus in April 2022 citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason, and that very event was what reportedly forced Billy’s relationship with his daughter Miley Cyrus to take a bad turn.

As per the statements from sources acquired by The Sun, despite the Flowers singer being “all about peace,” she couldn’t “agree with some things that her father had done.” This even led to the father-daughter pair unfollowing each other on Instagram.

“It has really escalated and they are not on good terms,” the source claimed. “There were words exchanged over what ­happened towards the end of Billy and Tish’s marriage and since then, but they clearly see things very differently. Neither of them is particularly eager to make amends right now without an apology.”

While this came after an on-off marriage that had more than one divorce announcement, this time, it seems to be more serious than ever, considering how the pop singer has clearly taken sides between her parents.

In fact, even as the rest of the Cyrus family hoped for it to “blow over soon” and for them to make up with each other, the feud is still going on and Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus are reportedly still upset with each other.

Not only did this bring forward the end of an era that had fans cheering up the relationship that the Hannah Montana TV series father-daughter pair shared in real life, but it has also brought forward a noticeable crack between the pair’s love for each other that might take longer than expected to heal.

Although Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus’ relationship with each other experienced a downfall following the divorce, reports from a few months after the divorce claimed that the Wrecking Ball singer wanted to repair her relationship with her father.

According to what insiders reported exclusively to E! News:

“The divorce between her parents has put a strain on her relationship with her dad and it’s been hard to connect with him in the last year,” the insider claimed. “She hopes they can eventually work on their relationship.”

This also came a little after the Plans Party Remix singer announced his engagement to his flame after ex-wife Tish Cyrus, Australian singer Firerose. The source also claimed that the Hannah Montana actress “doesn’t have a relationship” with Firerose, all the while adding:

“She, of course, hopes he is happy. But Miley has been closer to her mom Tish throughout the divorce.” Further reports added that Miley has “taken space and felt that was the healthiest thing to do for right now.”

As of now, Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus are still seemingly on sour terms, considering how they still haven’t followed each other back on Instagram nor have they been spotted together ever since.
