The lives of Elton John, Elvis Presley, and Freddie Mercury have all taken shape on screen and more is yet to come. One of the highly anticipated biopics to materialize in reel would be the movie based on Michael Jackson. Also, in the upcoming movie named ‘Michael‘, it would be the king of pop’s nephew Jaafar Jackson who will play the legend.

The upcoming project Michael was set to start in early 2023. But due to the actor and writer’s strike, the movie is put on hold. It is Oscar-winning actor Graham King who is producing the Lionsgate biopic. Thus there are high hopes for the movie. Also, the biopic is set to portray the singer’s controversial life unfazed.

Antoine Fuqua is currently in the making of the biopic ‘Michael’. The director is surprised by the resemblance between the lead star Jaafar Jackson and his late uncle Michael Jackson. “It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael. Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, found him, and introduced him to me, and I was blown away,” the filmmaker noted.

Jaafar Jackson is the son of Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson. The 27-year-old has also chosen music as his career like his father and uncle. He had his first single ‘Got Me Singing‘ released in 2019. In addition, there are a number of other songs. ‘The Jacksons: Next Generation‘ and ‘Tito Jackson: Get It Together‘ are various shows in which he has appeared.

The movie ‘Michael‘ is set to hit the screens in 2024. However, the subject of the movie is going to be difficult to handle as it will include even the controversies that Michael Jackson faced. “He was a great artist. He was human. We’re gonna show the good, bad, and the ugly. We’re just going to tell Michael based on the facts that I have,” director Antoine Fuqua said in ‘Good Morning America’ recently.

The biopic is written by John Logan. “We’re going to tell the facts that we have, and it’s for the audience to make a decision on how they feel about Michael, but we’re going to tell the facts as we know it,” the filmmaker said. GK Films, alongside the co-executors of Jackson’s estate, will be on the movie’s production team.
