Trevor Noah speaks for the first time about the rumors that he started a romance with Dua Lipa

Trevor Noah has spoken out for the first time about rumors he’s dating British pop sensation Dua Lipa – two months after the pair were pictured cuddling up in New York.

The presenter of The Daily Show, 38, and the “Hotter Than Hell” singer, 27, were spotted getting close after a dinner date in the East Village, and Trevor said he was shocked to see the photos.

When asked about the alleged romance by The Hollywood Reporter, The star laughed before commenting on the speculation saying: “It’s amazing to me how powerful these things are.”

He went on to detail a similar situation when he was photographed hugging a married friend the summer after he split from Minka Kelly.

Trevor said family members had called his friend’s husband claiming he was having an affair with her.

The interview comes after Dua and Trevor appeared to have struck up an intimate relationship as they ended the evening with a romantic kiss and a sweet hug before going their separate ways.

“They were sitting quietly away from everyone else in the restaurant. It was clear that they were attached to each other and sat next to each other throughout the dinner. They left together and walked, stopping for long hugs and a second kiss with a hug,” a source told Dailymail that time.

The speculation of a new romance comes as Trevor is leaving the The Daily Show after seven years at the top, during which the entertainment show’s ratings fell dramatically.

Dua and Trevor had given no previous signal of a possible romance. Their date night comes after both broke up with their partners of about two years.

Dua’s most recent long-term boyfriend was model Anwar Hadid, 23, the younger brother of Gigi and Bella Hadid.

The two reportedly started dating in June 2019, shortly after she broke up with her previous boyfriend.

At the start of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the two were even quarantined together.

But the two reportedly broke up and then got back together several times throughout the relationship, and they struggled until the end of 2021 due to travel schedules that kept them apart. The pair finally split in December last year.

Prior to her relationship with Anwar, Dua dated chef and model Isaac Carew from 2015 to early 2017.

Trevor’s last serious relationship was with actress Minka Kelly. In September 2020, it was reported that they had been dating for some time, even quarantining together at the start of the pandemic.
