Adam Sandler’s girls are following in his footsteps.

The actor’s daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, voice characters in his new animated movie Leo. And at the Los Angeles premiere of the Netflix flick on Sunday, Adam opened up to PEOPLE about the advice he has shared with them about their careers so far.

‘I tell them to make sure you feel good about what you do and how hard you worked, and you judge yourself,” says the 57-year-old. “Don’t let too many people try to get in your head. If you feel like you gave it your all, that’s all you can ask.”

“[It’s] always fun to be with my family,” he continues of collaborating on the project, which also stars his wife of 20 years, Jackie Sandler. “It’s kind of what they are thinking about getting into and their passion, and so it’s good to learn with them.”

The family posed for a series of photos together as they walked the gray carpet at the Regency Village Theater.

As for whether or not there will be any other Sandler family collaborations in the future, Adam adds to PEOPLE, “You never know, but we had a great time at that bat mitzvah movie. And this one, we started doing this four years ago, and they grew up a little bit while doing this movie, so it’s been really nice.”

The Murder Mystery 2 star also shared that he’s not sure if his kids will follow him into comedy as they “like the serious stuff.”

“But they’re fun in this movie,” he tells PEOPLE. “They’re light, goofy kids.”

According to Netflix, the musical comedy, which is released Tuesday, tells the story of the last year of elementary school through the eyes of the school’s class lizard called Leo.

While Adam plays Leo, Sunny and Sadie voice characters called Summer and Jayda, with Jackie lending her voice to Jayda’s mom.

Earlier this year, the foursome also starred in Netflix comedy-drama You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, with Sadie and Sunny playing their dad’s on-screen daughters Ronnie and Stacy.

The sisters have been working alongside their famous father — and mother — for more than a decade and have had roles in numerous movies including 2010 comedy Grown Ups to 2020 spooky comedy Hubie Halloween.
