Adam Sandler‘s daughter Sunny Sandler is now a movie star in her own right, but before she had a clear sense of how Hollywood works, she wasn’t thrilled about seeing her dad kiss actresses for his films.

Sandler appeared as a guest on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday to promote his new Netflix animated feature, Leo, in which his daughters, Sadie and Sunny, join him in the voice cast. He and Hudson reminisced about co-starring together in Netflix’s 2017 title Sandy Wexler, with Hudson remembering that her son, David, who was 6 years old at the time, was confused as to why she was kissing her co-star in a scene.

For his part, Sandler responded that his own daughters have sometimes struggled with seeing him smooch actresses for his projects, with Sunny, now 15, having had a stronger reaction to it than her older sister, Sadie, now 17. Sunny and Sadie both starred with their parents — Adam Sandler and wife Jackie Sandler — in Netflix’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, released earlier this year to strong critical response.

“When I have to kiss anybody, they’re not thrilled about that,” Sandler said about his daughters. “My wife is always telling them, ‘It’s OK. It’s part of the job. Let daddy kiss.’”

Sandler continued, “Sadie was always fine with it. Sunny would always be going over to my wife, saying, ‘You have to watch them. That’s not good. I don’t like that.’”

He went on to say that he goes “a little tight-mouth” for his movie kissing and quipped, “I don’t open up too wide.” Hudson concurred about their time together: “It’s very movie-appropriate.”

In addition to Hudson, Sandler is known for having starred opposite a litany of A-list love interests. This includes Drew Barrymore (The Wedding Singer, among other titles), Winona Ryder (Mr. Deeds), Marisa Tomei (Anger Management), Kate Beckinsale (Click), Salma Hayek (Grown Ups) and Jennifer Aniston (Murder Mystery and others).
