Specifically, the two supporting actors beat the star to death because they thought Sandler was transforming into a character.

Director Josh Safdie revealed that it was a scary moment for Adam Sandler and the actor tried to escape the fight. “One time, Adam was beaten and couldn’t breathe. He resisted but to no avail. We pay close attention to Adam. But when he choked and signaled for help, they thought Adam was impersonating Howard,” he shared.

Keith William Richard and Tommy Kominik take on the roles of Arno’s (Eric Bogosian) character’s bodyguards. They had never acted before the movie, but director Safdie commented that they were “very professional”.

Talking about the time he almost died due to an occupational accident, Adam Sandler said: “On the way home, I discovered that I had many bruises on my body like the black spots of a leopard. But it’s okay, I still love these guys. We still talk to each other on set in our free time. They are wonderful people.”

Uncut Gems marks Adam Sandler’s unique performance compared to his previous comedies. Howard Ratner is a memorable character, and a clear testament to the star’s diverse acting abilities.

He showed that he can completely escape the label of a cheesy comedian to take on thorny, in-depth works, as long as he has the right script.
