Arriving at the 3rd pick of the 2017 Draft, Jayson Tatum’s fastest step is the Celtics’ new star. However, after writing the history of the legendary franchise, this Saturday, he shared a revelation full of frankness.
At the end of his best individual campaign of his career, he seems to be back on better footing. Author of an excellent start to the season, Jayson Tatum continued his momentum in the Celtics’ new victory in Brooklyn this Saturday (124-114). Author in particular of 30 points (10/20 shooting, 6/10 at 3 points), the star winger took the opportunity to achieve something never seen before in the history of his franchise:

Youngest Celtic to score 10,000 career points
Jayson Tatum brutally honest on the Celtics
At only 25 years old, Tatum reached the symbolic 10,000 career points mark against the Nets. A historic feat which is not insignificant in an organization as legendary as that of Boston. Organization that he joined in 2017 despite his childhood love… for the Lakers. However, try and pass through this reason that he was unhappy at the idea of playing there according to his words on the microphone of NBC Sports:
Jayson Tatum:
“I didn't even want to come [to Boston] because I didn't think I was going to play. [Celtics] had Gordon [Hayward], [Jaylen Brown], Isaiah Thomas, [and Marcus] Smart, I didn't think I was good enough to be on that team.”

I didn’t even want to get drafted to Boston because I thought I wasn’t going to play. There was already Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart. I thought I wasn’t good enough to be on this team.
As a reminder, when JT joined the C’s, they were coming off a 53-win season and had failed to reach the Finals.
Suffice to say that the franchise already had very solid foundations on which to build, and that the arrival as a free agent of Gordon Hayward only strengthened them. As such, the former Dukie could legitimately fear seeing his development slowed down. In the end, he has no reason to complain about this scenario, he who seems well on his way to spending his entire career in Massachusetts.
Earlier than any Celtics icon in terms of scoring, Jayson Tatum would have arrived in Boston reluctantly. However, it didn’t take him long to realize that there was a place for him, and fortunately for the fans.
