CNN’s David Axelrod is slammed for for claiming Taylor Swift is ‘killing the Kansas City Chiefs’ – before quickly backtracking after they won
David Axelrod has drawn scorn for questioning if Taylor Swift is having a detrimental impact on her boyfriend’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
The former Obama White House strategist went viral after tweeting during the Chiefs’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on New Year’s Eve – which they ended up narrowly winning 25-17.
‘At some point it has to be asked: is Taylor Swift killing the @Chiefs?’ he wrote.
The analyst insisted on another tweet two hours later that his comment was not serious and that his wish for users who took it seriously was ‘a sense of humor.’
He then wrote that Taylor is ‘not a jinx’ and wished the unhappy Swifities on X a Happy New Year.

Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have been in a highly publicized relationship since last year.
The singer has attended Chiefs games since September and her appearances have led to an increase in game viewership and Kelce jersey sales.
The pair were spotted passionately kissing at a New Year’s Eve event after the game last night.
The former Barack Obama advisor, whom President Joe Biden called a ‘p****’ two months ago, has never talked about Swift and Kelce’s relationship so far.
Axelrod has not sent another tweet about Swift since New Year’s Eve.

Many users accused his tweets of being ‘sexist’ and ‘misogynist’ – one even called his first tweet ‘a d*** comment.’
‘Welp…the ratio is not going well, David. Joke or no joke. Don’t joke about women “messing up men’s careers” we don’t like that s***,’ wrote Lora Eckle.
Some have backed up Swift, but dissed Kelce for having a bad game and that he ‘stunk up the joint.’
X users have accused the former Barack Obama advisor of being ‘sexist’ and ‘misogynistic’ and have written how unfunny his jokes are
Some X users have agreed with him on his comments and did not show anger toward him whatsoever.
‘No it was definitely funny and you’re not the only one thinking it,’ wrote Joseph Carston.
He added: ‘Swifties are just weirdos like every other crazy fan base who would walk through fire for their favorite famous person.’

Users who aren’t big Swifties have shown disdain for his comments and showed hate toward the Kansas City Chiefs for not having a good season.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted after their AFC West win against the Bengals ‘feels different’ since they’re not a high scoring team, but is not blaming Swift for their record.
In fact, his wife Brittany became friends with Swift and were spotted hanging out with each other outside NFL games.
