KING’S COURT LeBron James spotted on ESPN cameras in bizarre court testing routine pre-game as NBA fans call Lakers star ‘next level’
The King’s odd pre-game routine helped contribute to the Lakers 134-107 rout over the Grizzlies
LEBRON James wasn’t taking any chances when it came to the Los Angeles Lakers new in-season tournament court.
On Tuesday, for the Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies in-season tournament matchup, the NBA’s all-time top scorer was spotted pre-game testing every inch of the hardwood.

Starting with the 2023-24 season, the NBA will implement the in-season tournament, meaning new courts go down every time for a dedicated game.
At Crypto.com Arena, the Lakers home stadium, the team laid down yellow and purple striped hardwood, much different than the lighter traditional color.
Pre-game, James took the court early, inspecting the scene by dragging and squeaking his sneakers along the floor.
In the 56-second-long video shared by ESPN and the Lakers, he’s pictured walking the entirety of the court going baseline to baseline.
After his approval, all was good to go.
Fans on social media cracked jokes about the bizarre video.
One wrote: “LeExtra.”
A second quipped: “He making sure Anthony Davis don’t slip.”
Another added: “Finding where to flop.”
And a fourth said: “Next level veteran move to inspect the new floor.”
Checking the floor pre-game might’ve contributed to the Lakers dominant 134-107 win over the Grizzlies.
The future Hall of Famer put up 16 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in the victory.
On a back-to-back the next day against the Sacramento Kings, unfortunately LeBron and the Lakers’ three-game winning streak was halted.
Though, at the age of 38, the four-time NBA champion piled up 28 point triple-double.
James is still showing no signs of slowing down in his 21st season, averaging 24.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game through 11 games this year.
The King and the 6-6 Lakers next take the floor on Friday night for another in-season tournament match against the 3-8 Portland Trail Blazers.
