The Clippers came out on top with 120 to 111 points but Westbrook’s trick shot is the most talked about part of the game.
NBA shared the clip of the shot on X, formerly Twitter, saying: “Give & Go! Russ with the acrobatic finish after Harden threads the needle.”
Westbrook is seen passing the ball to James Harden before dodging to the basket.
Harden then passed the ball back to Westbrook, who expertly got it in the hoop with a remarkable layup.
However, he was not without challenge as Jaden Hardy attempted to take him on at the rim.
“Extraordinary”, one viewer wrote below the clip as others posted numerous fire emojis.
“Give and Go indeed,” another said before adding, “With acrobatic is out of this world.”
Meanwhile, one Westbrook fan quoted haters saying: “Russell Westbrook and James Harden can’t play together.”
He then added: “People really told us that the greatest scoring duo of All Time can’t hoop together.
“Harden x Russ lineups in the last 9 games: Offensive Rating: 136 Defensive Rating: 113.3 Net Rating: +22.6”
As the team hopes to continue its eight-game winning streak, fans will be keeping a close eye on the court and key players like Westbrook.
Following the game, fans noted that Westbrook’s “All-Defense team campaign [is] officially underway,” following the player’s comments to the press.
Upon being asked about his defensive work during the game, Westbrook told a reporter: “Ain’t too many people defending better than me at this point if we keeping it honest.
“I’ll let the numbers speak for that… There are not many who defend better than me at this position all around the league.”
He added that being given the all-defense nod is not needed but that he is “very deserving of it.”
“I’ve been very deserving of it at some point in my career,” he said.
“If that’s what happens this year, I’ll be grateful. … Imma keep defending my a** off every night.”
The Clippers are set to face one of Westbrook’s former teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday evening as they fight for the league title.
