Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have had their say on the best wonderkids currently playing in the Premier League.

After a summer of European football, the Premier League made its much anticipated return last weekend as the best teams in English football clashed for the first time this season.

Ahead of the season, fans and pundits made their predictions, giving their opinions on who will make the top four, win the title and which players will perform the best across the season.

And now, Carragher and Neville have ranked the Premier League’s best young players as they compared players from top clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool.

Appearing on Sky Sports, the pundits gave United’s Kobbie Mainoo the nod over Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and Liverpool’s Elliott.

After a small discussion, the pair agree that, after his performances in the unlikely FA Cup final victory over Manchester City and England’s campaign to the Euro 2024 final, he stood out from the other two as the best youngster in the league.

In second place, they put Elliott who, despite missing out on the England squad over the summer, has continued to impress in the Liverpool squad and looks likely to enjoy more minutes under new manager Arne Slot.

Finally in the top three ranking, they put Wharton, who just last season was playing for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, after he enjoyed a breakout season at Palace, leading to him earning a surprise inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad over the summer.

Earlier in the week the two offered their other big predictions for the outcome of this season’s Premier League.

Neville doubled down on his prediction last season by claiming that Arsenal will finally beat out Manchester City and claim the title in 2024/25.

However, Carragher was not convinced, as he revealed that he believes City will extend their record of consecutive Premier League titles to five.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur completed Carragher’s top four, while Neville went for City, United and Chelsea.

Unsurprisingly, both men agreed that Erling Haaland would take the golden boot in his third consecutive season since joining the League from Borussia Dortmund.
