The 2024 WNBA season has been one of the most entertaining and competitive seasons in league history. With star rookies such as Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky helping create a new audience, there has never been more eyes on the WNBA.

That said, while these two rookies have been great, there have been a number of other players who have helped to make this season so special. Most notably, MVP frontrunner A’ja Wilson. While she’s been atop the MVP leaderboard all season, there are some other players who have also made a case for themselves.

Former WNBA player turned analyst Rebecca Lobo released her official MVP ballot, leaving off one of the league’s top stars in New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu.

Despite averaging over 18 PPG and 6.2 APG, Ionescu’s case wasn’t strong enough to make Lobo’s list. While this may come as a surprise to some, it isn’t too farfetched. Ionescu’s play has dropped as of late, yet the Liberty continue to win. There is a plethora of talent on the squad, making it difficult to have her name in the MVP conversation.

This is especially true when considering that her teammate Breanna Stewart is the third ranked player on her ballot. None of this is to say that she’s had a bad season, but more so that she isn’t the most valuable on her team.
