Internet reacts to Trevor Noah never having had a ‘real job’
At this point, it is nearly impossible to believe that one of Mzansi’s favourite comedians – Trevor Noah – has never had a job.
Since his entrance into the entertainment industry, the 40-year-old has proudly become a jack of all trades, from competing in the popular celebrity dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing, hosting his own television shows in both South Africa and America, all the way to landing an acting gig alongside Eddie Murphy in Coming 2 America.
It appears as if there is nothing that Trevor has not attempted.
In acknowledgement of his recent 40th birthday, Trevor recently returned home to have a sit-down interview with two of his closest friends, radio presenter Anele Mdoda and media personality Sizwe Dhlomo for his podcast called, What Now? With Trevor Noah.
Although their discussions were insightful, the two long-time buddies of the Emmy award winner later revealed something interesting about the global star – which is that he “never had a job.”
Taking to social media Trevor shared a snippet of the podcast along with the caption, “Never trust your friends to tell your story.”
In the clip, Trevor speaks about his move from South Africa to America, adding that living abroad has been quite a big change. To this Sizwe responded: “Let me tell you why I think it was a big change for you, you never had a job. Like a 9:00 to 17h00.”
With Anele standing in agreement, a shocked Trevor responded: “This guy just said I never had a job.”
He later touched on many of the work he did before becoming famous.
“The first job I had, was that I worked at a video game arcade. I was the person who turned your money into tokens.
“Be very careful, this is a real job for many people … I used to read electricity metres for my mom’s business, without that you don’t know how much electricity you use. Then, I was a taxi driver for a year, waking up at 4 am every morning and driving until 9 pm.”
Later, Sizwe corrected himself, saying that Trevor never had a real job, since he has always been available to hang out, regardless of the time of day.
Taking to the comment section, the internet got in on the discussion.
