Hugh Jackman’s name is one that almost every person knows. This is no surprise considering how many different genres and types of roles he has worked in throughout the course of his career. From starring as the Wolverine in the X-Men franchise to playing The Greatest Showman, and even starring in Les Misérables, the film that helped him get his Oscar nomination, it would not be all too far-fetched to say that there is nothing that he cannot do.

There isn’t much that you would expect an actor as talented as Jackman to be bad at. Surprisingly, however, he had a job he wasn’t very good at before he became as famous as he is today. The Oscar-nominated actor used to work as a clown for kids’ birthday parties before his rise to fame, and he was so bad at it that he was beaten up and had eggs thrown at him by children.

Hugh Jackman Worked As A Clown

Many actors have to take up odd jobs before they get their big break in Hollywood, be it working in the service industry, or working small gigs to support themselves. Hugh Jackman was no different in this, except for the job that he had to make ends meet. The actor revealed on The Howard Stern Show he worked as a clown at kids’ birthday parties for some time. Going by Coco the Clown, the actor elaborated that he wasn’t that good of a clown. He was great at only juggling three things at once not more.
“I was the best. You could climb on my head, I could juggle three things. I could juggle kind of anything, like swords,” he said. “Anything for 3, but nothing more. No balloon animals. No magic tricks.”
Though he wasn’t very good at magic, which is quite odd considering his occupation, the actor made up for it in other ways, like letting the children climb on his head or being able to juggle. Other than magic, he also could not do balloon animals, which is, again extremely rare for clowns not to be able to do. Though the entertainment that he provided, was sufficient for younger children, things were a lot different when it came to older kids. The actor then went on to share the story of his last day as a clown, which can only be called a nightmare.

Hugh Jackman Got Beaten Up By Children

Hugh Jackman revealed on The Howard Stern Show that he once had a party for an eight-year-old child. He described this particular party as having quite a tough crowd, so much so that the child, whose party it was, ended up complaining to his mother, how much he hated Coco the Clown. Jackman ended up telling the child to stop talking and he continued trying to entertain. Jackman pulled out eggs that he was going to juggle, something he wasn’t very good at.

Hugh Jackman Recalls His Days Working as a Clown

Somehow, the situation completely slipped and ended with the children, getting their hands on the eggs and throwing them at Jackman. They loved it so much, that they started attacking the actor, beating him up and jumping on top of him. The actor revealed that he felt pathetic at that moment, but the children were having fun, so he let us continue. He remembered looking at his watch, waiting for his time to be over, and deciding that he would never do something like this again.
