News: Legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning will receive the 2024 Mizel Institute Community Enrichment Award, which recognizes his contributions both on and off the football field.

“Peyton Manning’s impact on our community extends far beyond his incredible football career,” Gov. Jared Polis said. “His commitment to the lives of others has left a lasting impact on Colorado.”

The governor said he is thrilled to celebrate his accomplishments when the Mizel Institute presents the award at its annual fundraiser to be held on May 22.

Mayor Mike Johnston described Manning as “A Denver icon.”

“His influence and generosity have changed countless lives in our city. We are grateful that he came to Denver and even more grateful that he stayed to make it his home” after retiring from the Denver Broncos, and the NFL, in 2016,” the mayor said.

A 2021 inductee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Manning spent 18 seasons in the NFL and played in four Super Bowls, leading both the Indianapolis Colts and the Broncos to victory in two of them.

Through his Peyback Foundation, Manning has supported numerous charitable organizations, focusing on youth education, leadership and wellness.

Proceeds from the presentation event will help support the Mizel Institute’s Mizel Museum and the CELL, whose programs empower individuals to become civically engaged in promoting social justice and enhancing public safety.

Previous Community Enrichment Award recipients include Polis, U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper, John Elway, Pat Bowlen and Peter H. Coors.
