The Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2023 regular season on a 1-5 stretch that included back-to-back losses to teams that will be picking in the top 10 during this year’s NFL draft. After the now 6-11 New York Giants handled the Eagles in Week 18, veteran center Jason Kelce reiterated that the locker room had not lost faith in head coach Nick Sirianni.
The Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2023 regular season 11-6 after starting 10-1.
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports “I think everyone in the locker room has faith in Nick Sirianni,” Kelce said. “It hasn’t been pretty the last month, would be an understatement but we’ve had a lot of really, really successful football with Nick. I think he does a lot of really, really good things organizationally.
Every game that we play is ultimately a reflection of the team and the head coach.” Philadelphia became the first team since the 1986 New York Jets to start 10-1 or better and fail to win 12 games on the season. Over the Eagles’ last six games, they had a -59 point differential and lost three games by more than two touchdowns. It wasn’t just one unit that played poorly over the final stretch of the season.
Both the offense and the defense looked nothing like they did earlier in the year, with major issues on both sides of the ball. Philadelphia gave up an average of 30.3 points to its opponents over the final six games while failing to score 20 points in four of the six games.
“I think there’s a lot of things that collectively we can all do better at,” Kelce said. “With me, I don’t have any lack of faith or trust in Nick Sirianni.” Related: Eagles Embarrassed by Giants, Secure No. 5 Seed in Playoffs The Eagles will be heading on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Wild Card Weekend with the date and time of the game yet to be announced.
