Earlier this year, Johnny Depp won his US defamation trial against his ex, Amber Heard.

It ended a saga that went on for years, freeing the actor to regain his standing in Hollywood and start starring in blockbusters again.

During his previous UK libel trial against the Sun – which he lost – he was represented by attorney Joelle Rich, who he is now dating, according to Page Six.

She enters a long line of girlfriends who Johnny has been with over the years, most of whom being A-list celebrities.

Here is everything you need to know about Johnny Depp’s dating history, including his new partner Joelle.

Johnny’s first wife was Lori Anne Allison, who he tied the knot with when he was just 20 years old in 1983.

Lori introduced Johnny to Nicolas Cage around this time, who in turn introduced him to his own agent.

This directly helped get him his debut role in A Nightmare On Elm Street, kickstarting his career.

Even though they eventually split in 1985, they have remained close ever since.

Sherilyn Fenn

That year, Johnny met Sherilyn Fenn when they were both working on the short film Dummies.

They dated for three years, with some reports claiming they were even engaged at one point.

In 2017, she opened up about her relationship with Johnny, telling The Big Issue that “he was very sweet. He was my first love”.

She added: “I had found real love. It was with someone who was walking the same path, but even if he wasn’t, the love and the connection was strong enough – cooking meals, hanging out, laughing and crying.

“So, it is more about that than the fact he is this well-known person now. I know him as a human not a movie star.”

Jennifer Grey

In 1989, Johnny was romantically linked to Jennifer Grey, with the star being best known for her iconic performance in Dirty Dancing.

The actress claims that she was even engaged to him in her 2022 memoir Out Of The Corner, though this has never been confirmed by Johnny.

Regardless, their relationship didn’t last more than 12 months.

Between the years of 1989 and 1993, Johnny was in a relationship with Winona Ryder.

They met on the set of Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands and before long, Johnny once again popped the question.

He even got the infamous tattoo Winona Forever, though that didn’t last long.

After their split in 1993, Johnny altered his tatt to read ‘Wino Forever.’

Ellen Barkin

In 1994, Johnny started dating Ellen Barkin, a fellow actress who is nine years older than him.

At the time, she had recently divorced her ex-husband Gabriel Byrne, though it appeared to be a rebound fling as they didn’t last long.

However, four years later they reunited on the set of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and remain close friends to this day.

Kate Moss

Another famous relationship of Johnny’s came when he was dating Kate Moss between the years of 1994 and 1998.

Kate was at the height of her fashion career at the time and 11 years younger than the actor.

They soon got themselves a reputation for their arguments, with Johnny even trashing a hotel room that Kate was staying in, although she was unhurt.

However, Kate has always admitted that Johnny was good with her and trusted him.

Vanessa Paradis

Johnny’s longest relationship was with Vanessa Paradis, with the two getting together following his split from Kate in 1998.

Overall, they dated for 14 years after crossing paths on the set of Roman Polanski’s film The Ninth Gate.

They even had two children together, Lily-Rose Depp and Jack Depp, in 1999 and 2002 respectively.

They ended their relationship in 2012, and during an interview with Rolling Stone, Johnny said: “It wasn’t easy on [Paradis]. It wasn’t easy on me. It wasn’t easy on the kids.

“It doesn’t stop the fact that you care for that person, and they’re the mother of your kids, and you’ll always know each other, and you’re always gonna be in each other’s lives because of those kids.”

Amber Heard

Rumours of Johnny and Amber Heard began back in 2011, when they met on the set of the film Rum Diaries.

They started officially dating the following year before tying the knot in 2015.

The marriage didn’t last long though, as in 2016 Amber filed for divorce from the star.

In 2022, the pair made worldwide headlines for their defamation lawsuit which blanketed social media for months.

Ultimately, Johnny won and was awarded $15 (£13.49) million in damages by a jury, but Amber will only have to pay him $10.35 (£9.31) million due to a Virginia law capping punitive damages.

Joelle Rich

Johnny’s latest and current partner is his former attorney Joelle Rich.

She represented him in the 2020 libel lawsuit against The Sun, not the Amber Heard defamation lawsuit.

However, she was present during the Virginia trial to show support for the actor.

A source told Us Weekly: “There was no professional obligation for her being there. It was personal.”
