As the cast and crew of Deadpool 3 prepare to return to filming following the SAG-AFTRA strike ending, Hugh Jackman shares a video showing his workout to get back into Wolverine shape. The first of Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson movies to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s plenty of excitement for the movie, especially since it sees the return of Jackman’s Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s Logan. The MCU movie started filming earlier this year, but paused production in July when the Deadpool 3 cast went on strike with the rest of their union. Now, they’re getting ready to return.

On Instagram, Jackman posted a video of himself lifting weights ahead of Deadpool 3’s production resuming. The movie is currently set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024, a minor delay from its previous May 2024 release date. Check out Jackman’s video below.

The caption of Jackman’s workout video includes the acronym LFG, which stands for “let’s f-cking go,” and the hashtag “#becomingwolverineagain(again),” a version of which he used prior to the movie’s initial filming start. Before Deadpool 3 started filming, the 55-year-old actor posted photos and videos with the hashtag “#becomingwolverineagain” showcasing his process of returning to the role.

Jackman has talked quite a bit about how he’s bulking up to become Wolverine. Because it’s not as simple as working out, Jackman must also eat a high number of calories a day, which the body then turns into physical muscle. In January, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jackman revealed he had built up to eating 6,000 calories a day, which caused him to split his pants three times.

Two months later, Jackman revealed he’d increased his calorie intake to 8,000 a day (via GQ), which, combined with his workout regime, helps him bulk up. Jackman’s 8,000 calorie diet is more than the 6,100 calorie diet Jonathan Majors used to get ready for the bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams. In 2021, Dwayne Johnson told Delish that he eats about 6,000-8,000 calories a day, presumably to maintain his muscle mass. So Jackman’s diet is certainly on par with other Hollywood actors who want to bulk up or maintain a certain physique for their roles.
