Hugh Jackman strongly suggests Deadpool 3 has resumed production by sporting a familiar look in a new selfie.

Hugh Jackman seemingly confirms that Deadpool 3 is resuming production with a new update.

Jackman, who has been getting in Wolverine shape in the gym, shared a selfie sporting a superhero trim. “Sporting the chops can only mean one thing,” the actor wrote alongside an Instagram selfie. Before its production restart, Marvel officially announced that Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2024 instead of the initially planned May 2024 release.

Due to the Hollywood actor and writers’ strikes, the superhero upcoming movie is the sole Marvel movie slated for release in 2024. Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts, both intended for a release in 2024, will now open in 2025. Blade, meant to open early in 2025, now won’t hit theaters until November of that year.

Jackman has depicted Wolverine in a total of nine films. In Deadpool 2’s conclusion, there’s a memorable flashback to X-Men Origins: Wolverine where Jackman makes an appearance while Reynolds’ character, Wade Wilson, is time traveling.

In the post-credits scene, Wade and Logan prepare to confront each other, but Future Deadpool intervenes and eliminates his past self while telling Logan to accept their future collaboration. Despite their previous face-off in the movie, Logan and Deadpool will make their first appearances in the MCU in Deadpool 3. In addition, photos have been released, confirming that Wolverine and Deadpool will don comic book-accurate costumes in the upcoming superhero flick.

Alongside Jackman and Reynolds, the Deadpool 3 cast includes Emma Corrin as the lead villain, Matthew Macfadyen in an unspecified role, Stefan Kapičić is back as Colossus, and Morena Baccarin returns as Vanessa. In addition, Leslie Uggams and Karan Soni are confirmed to be reprising their roles as Blind Al and Dopinder, from the first two Deadpool movies. Shawn Levy is at the helm of directing the film, working with a script crafted by the collaborative efforts of Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy himself.

Deadpool 3 Aims for a July 2024 Release

The upcoming movie commenced filming in London in May of this year, with plans to continue production until the Fall. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), the film’s production was put on hold.

Shawn Levy had previously disclosed that the movie was 35 days into production and halfway through filming before the interruption occurred. With Jackman’s update, it appears that Deadpool 3 is back filming and remains on schedule for the postponed release date in July 2024.
