Sigh. 2022 was neither the best of the years for Henry Cavill nor for his fans. His departure from two beloved roles, Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher and DCU’s Superman was like a knife to the heart of his fan base. On top of that, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly taken the much-anticipated role of James Bond over Henry Cavill.

Anyway, new year, new opportunities right? We aren’t too sure about that. It looks like luck has followed Henry Cavill into 2023 as according to reports, he might have been dropped from another massive project with actor Chris Hemsworth said to be taking his place. This means that over a span of just a few months, Henry Cavill had to say goodbye to not one, not two, but three whole projects.

Henry Cavill Dropped from Highlander Remake?

The 1986 film, Highlander, starring Christopher Lambert is getting a remake. Now while Henry Cavill was all set to star in the remake, it looks like luck is not on his side. According to the “trusted and proven sources” of Giant Freakin Robot, Cavill has been dropped from the remake. Instead of him, the team is now eyeing Chris Hemsworth to play the part in the film.

It sure looks like the Hemsworth brothers have an eye out for Cavill’s roles because if the reports are true, this will be the second time that Cavill gets replaced by a Hemsworth. The Man of Steel actor bid farewell to his role in The Witcher as Liam Hemsworth is all set to take over the role of Geralt of Rivia.

Now while fans are worried about Hemsworth being a good replacement for Cavill in The Witcher, his brother might be more appreciated by the fans. We can’t disagree that Cavill being let go from the role is a disappointment. However, Hemsworth seems like a “worthy” replacement. The Thor actor has a pretty solid fan base, most of which comes from his time in the MCU. Therefore, while the replacement sure stings, it could undoubtedly result in great things!

The replacement might not hurt Cavill a lot as the actor is quite deep into projects at the moment. As reported by Giant Freakin Robot, he is also being taken into consideration to play a role in The Man from U.N.C.L.E 2. He will also be seen playing a role in the spy thriller, Argylle, which is based on a novel by Elly Conway. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn and is said to release this year. On top of all that, Cavill will also have his hands’ full thanks to the Warhammer Cinematic Universe he is working on.

So while Cavill has been dropped from quite a few projects in a span of months, it looks like the guy will be okay. Despite losing out on major roles, his fan-following has not suffered a bit and has only grown in numbers, if that was even possible! We can’t wait to see him back in action again as we have a feeling he’ll be back with a bang!
