Caitlin Clark Responds to Strong Message From 12-Time NBA All-Star

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark received a message from an NBA legend.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was officially named the WNBA Rookie of the Year on Thursday. The league’s announcement of this award came as no surprise. Clark was one vote shy of winning Rookie of the Year unanimously, 66 of 67.

In addition to leading the Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016, Clark broke numerous league records. The WNBA made a detailed graphic that included several of Clark’s records from her historic rookie season.

Some of Clark’s most notable achievements in her rookie year were the WNBA’s single-season assists record, single-game assists record and rookie scoring record.

Indiana’s All-Star rookie has been receiving several messages from around the basketball world. One of these came from San Antonio Spurs point guard Chris Paul.

“Caitlin congrats,” Paul said in a video posted to Instagram. “For you to do what you did this past season, with all the crazy expectations you had coming out of college, you were better than advertised.”

Clark responded to Paul’s post, commenting, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

Clark’s superstardom began well before her WNBA rookie season. The NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, Clark, landed several off-the-court deals due to her popularity in college.

One of Clark’s deals is with State Farm, which is where this connection with Paul comes from. The 12-time NBA All-Star has been one of the faces of State Farm since inking a deal with the company in 2012.

Paul spent last season with the Golden State Warriors, appearing in 58 games (18 starts). The 19-year NBA veteran was waived by Golden State before getting picked up by San Antonio.

Joining forces with 7-foot-4 phenom Victor Wembanyama, Paul has an opportunity to elevate a young Spurs team with his experience.
