The England boss has issued a key fitness update
Gareth Southgate has confirmed a major injury update ahead of England’s final group game with Slovenia.
The Three Lions sit top of Group C, with a win against Serbia and a draw against Denmark.
After a lacklustre performance against the Danes, criticism has been rife, with England struggling to dominate either of their first two group games.

However, Southgate has confirmed the left-back will play no part in Cologne.
The defender has been struggling with a hamstring problem and the England boss confirmed he ‘is not ready’ to feature.

One change has already been confirmed with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold set to drop out of the starting XI with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher set to replace him in the midfield bringing an end to Southgate’s ‘experiment’ in the middle of the park.

The England boss admitted he hadn’t seen what was said hasn’t engaged in any of the media reaction to his side’s performances.
He said: “I haven’t heard what he said. I have heard one word.
“That is the world we are in. I am oblivious to it, it is not important to me at all. What is important to me is I have to guide this set of players confidently through the terrain that is the tournament.
“We are a high profile team and we have expectations and we fully understand everything we do will be scrutinised. I am very comfortable living that life. I don’t need to engage in the external because I am my own biggest critic and I think our players are as well.

“There is nothing to be gained from us listening to external criticism. We know what we have done well and are very honest about that. We know where we need to improve and we are brutally honest about that.
“That is how you coach a team and improve performance.”
