Caitlin Clark question leaves New York Knicks star Josh Hart raging – “Stupid”
Josh Hart was far from impressed by a reporter’s question to Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington following her unintentional eye-poke of WNBA ROTY Caitlin Clark
New York Knicks star Josh Hart has hit out at what he says is a “stupid” question by a reporter who asked Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington whether her eye-poke on Caitlin Clark was intentional.
Clark, 22, was caught in the eye while dribbling in Game 1 of the Indiana Fever’s WNBA playoff series with the Sun. The incident created a lot of controversy, forcing Carrington to clarify that she didn’t catch Clark intentionally.
“I don’t even know why I would intend to hit anybody in the eye,” Carrington told a reporter. “That doesn’t even make sense to me. But, no, I didn’t. I didn’t know I hit her, actually. I was trying to make a play on the ball, and I guess I followed through, and I hit her. So, obviously, it’s never intentional. That’s not even like the type of player that I am.”
Clark also defended her rival. “It wasn’t intentional by any means,” Clark said. “Just watch the play.”
The question by the reporter rubbed Knicks star Hart the wrong way. He took to X to hit out at the question, writing: “They need to start taking media credentials away for stupid questions like this.”
Clark and the Fever could be dumped out of the WNBA playoffs on Wednesday night. They train the Sun 1-0 in the three-game series. “We know we’re capable of beating this team. We have done it,” said Clark.
“Obviously, they’re really, really good and we know it’ll be a challenge, but I don’t think it’s anything we’re shying away from. I think you just embrace the challenge. We know we didn’t have our best [Sunday] and maybe the final score really seems like we did get blown out, but we had it to six points. We had it to eight points. It was just we could never really get over the hump.”
The defense was a problem for Indiana in Game 1. Fever coach Christie Sides admitted she was disappointed with the performance.
“We’ve done a really good job defensively in our schemes, and I don’t think we did a great job of making it really hard on them, especially with some of the shots that they took,” Sides said.
“They shot the ball extremely well. There’s a lot of things that we can do differently to make it more difficult for them to get some of those shots.
