Women’s Boxing Champ Wants To Fight Jake Paul After His Victory Over Nate Diaz

Claressa Shields, the reigning champion in women’s boxing, was not impressed by what she saw on Saturday night by Jake Paul as he defeated MMA legend, Nate Diaz.

Paul returned to the boxing ring on Saturday after suffering his first career loss in February against Tommy Fury. It was Diaz’s first time in a boxing ring following an MMA career where he had a 21-13 record.

Paul looked like he would knock him out early in the first round, but Diaz recovered nicely and it made it a long night.

Paul knocked down Diaz in the fifth round, but that was one of the only times Diaz looked in trouble. Per CompuBox, Paul landed 174 of 491 shots (35.4 percent), while Diaz landed 143 of 392 blows (36.5 percent).

Shields would take to Twitter and issue a challenge to Paul for a bout.

“Yes facts remains I’ll get Jake Paul too,” Shields wrote on Twitter. “The level that of skill being displayed is mediocre.”

This is not the first instance of Shields calling out Paul, as she previously stated in 2021 she could defeat him in a boxing match due to her experience sparring with male fighters of higher caliber.

“Jake Paul is making his money, he’s doing his thing, but stay away from us real fighters,” she told TMZ.

This is Paul’s seventh career victory, moving his record to 7-1. Four of his last five fights have now gone the distance, this being the most rounds Paul has ever fought in his career.

Diaz is the fourth UFC fighter to face Paul, joining Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (two fights), and Anderson Silva.

Paul said that he would like to fight Diaz in the octagon in an MMA bout for their next meeting, so Shields may have to wait a little longer.
