Israeli actress Gal Gadot gained international recognition for playing the role of the DC Extended Universe superhero Wonder Woman in several films including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She portrayed Gisele Yashar in Vin Diesel’s 2009 film Fast and Furious. She reprised her role as Yashar in numerous Fast and Furious sequels.

Gal Gadot began in the industry as a model after winning the beauty pageant Miss Israel in 2004 and representing her country at the Miss Universe 2004 pageant. Over the years, she has starred in many highly acclaimed movies such as Triple 9Criminal, and Netflix’s Red Notice, but before she won the role of Wonder Woman, she had to struggle a lot as she kept getting rejected for years because she was not famous enough.

Gal Gadot Lost A Major Role to Charlize Theron

There is no denying that hard work is the key to success, but it does not always stand true. Despite being an amazing actress, for the longest time, Gal Gadot could not land a role that would catapult her name to fame in the Hollywood entertainment industry.

The Keeping Up With The Joneses actress lost the lead role in the 2015 dystopian action movie Mad Max: Fury Road and that seemed to be her last straw as the role went to Charlize Theron who was more popular at the time. Theron did a phenomenal job of playing Imperator Furiosa alongside Tom Hardy’s ‘Mad’ Max Rockatanasky but that in no way meant that Gadot could not have been able to do it.

Gal Gadot was ready to pack her bags and go back to Israel with her family when she was asked to go and audition for a secret project. That movie happened to be none other than Man of Steel director Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in which she was going to portray the superhero Wonder Woman, her dream role.

Hollywood is a tricky place to be and an actor’s job is often considered to be one of the toughest ones out there. Gal Gadot lost the lead role in Mad Max to Charlize Theron but she does have any hard feelings for The Italian Job actress. In fact, they have more in common than one could imagine.

On an episode of The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter podcast, the Heart of Stone star said: “Charlize, I love. It’s funny because we have Patty Jenkins in common. I have a few things [in common] with her.”

To begin with, both Gal Gadot and Charlize Theron had their breakthrough movies directed by Patty Jenkins. In fact, Theron had also claimed that she was approached for a role in Wonder Woman which she could not take due to her commitment to other projects.

Both of these actresses have appeared in the Fast and Furious movie franchise and were considered eligible to win awards for their roles in action movies which is quite rare. It will not come as too much of a surprise if the two of them end up sharing the screen at some point.
