Julia Roberts isn’t afraid to take on gritty roles, from Erin Brockovich to The Secrets in Their Eyes, but that doesn’t mean she’s willing to strip down for them.

Despite some creeps zooming in on what may or may not be one of her breasts in paused footage from Pretty Woman, Roberts has been open about her adamant opposition to performing nude in her movies.

MTV News even pointed out that, despite playing a prostitute in Pretty Woman and starring in a film called Full Frontal, no one has actually seen Roberts naked onscreen, which she confirmed.

Roberts told Vanity Fair in February 1999 that she “rarely” films nude scenes at all, and, when she does, she isn’t actually nude — she uses tape and keeps her breasts concealed from the view of cameras.

In 2007, Roberts told E! News (via The Observer), “Listen, there’s a reason why you don’t see me naked me in movies, you don’t see me running around in bathing suits in movies: It’s just not my thing.”

In 2007, the toothy stunner told OK! magazine (via Digital Spy) that her stance on nudity in film is that it takes away from the work, explaining, “I wouldn’t do nudity in a film. To act with my clothes on is a performance. To act with my clothes off is a documentary.”

Being a mother to twins Phinnaeus and Hazel, now 14, and son Henry, now 12, also influences the Oscar winner’s aversion to appearing naked on film.

There was reportedly a raunchy sex scene in Roberts’ film Duplicity alongside hunky Clive Owen, but the Evening Standard reports that she had specific input in making the scene significantly less gratuitous.

“You know it’s not really what I do,” she told press of the hot-and-heavy love scenes. “So if you are going ask me to do it, you have to expect it to be toned down. You know, as a mom of three, I feel like that.”

So, don’t expect to see Julia Roberts do a nude scene anytime soon.
