It’s as if Apple Studios and Skydance Entertainment typed in “Nobody,” + “The Pacifier,” + “City with an inferiority complex” and produced a script devoid of charm and coherent thought or reasoning. That’s The Family Plan, an ultraviolent family action comedy that seems to be a ChatGPT creation.
The story follows Dan Morgan, who loves his quiet suburban life in Buffalo. Frequently, he is named the car salesman of the month at the certified pre-owned dealership where he works. Dan is married to his lovely wife, Jess, and has three beautiful children.
However, his life is turned upside down when someone snaps a picture of the couple on their anniversary and posts it on social media. This triggers a manhunt for Dan because he is a retired secret agent who gave up years ago and has been raising a family in Western New York ever since.

Apple TV+’s The Family Plan Ending Explained: Why did Dan change his identity?
Dan (Mark Wahlberg) left his old life because the people he worked for were murder-for-hire mercenaries. Initially, he claimed to be a Green Beret and a Delta. The Special Air Service (SAS) then recruited him. Dan thought he was working for the good guys. Later, he discovers that he is working for evil people.
Dan tells Jess that even the man he worked for was “like a father figure” to him. Yet, Dan wasn’t telling the whole story. The man chasing Dan, named McCaffery (Ciarán Hinds), is his father. However, Dan says his dad has a “spider’s nest for a heart.” He wanted out and succeeded, raising a family in Buffalo.
However, when McCaffery takes Dan’s family hostage, he tells his son he will let them go if Dan comes back to work for him. Dan refuses, and with the help of his family, including his son Kyle, using his gamer skills to fly a drone for recon, he defeats McCaffery’s team.

In The Family Plan, who kills Gwen?
In the movie The Family Plan, Gwen is killed by Jess (Michelle Monaghan). Gwen is Dan’s ex-girlfriend and works for his father. She is a jealous ex-lover and gets close to Jess at the beginning of the film to see what she has and what Gwen doesn’t. While Dan is fighting McCaffery and his men in the casino, Jess is fighting Gwen on the rooftop, trying to keep the assassin away from him.
Three children are hiding under some scaffolding. (This is where Kyle is hiding and working the drone.) Gwen (Maggie Q) is killed when Jess throws a broken piece of bamboo, like a javelin, straight through Gwen’s heart. Jess is a former college athlete and decathlon competitor. She yells, “There are nine other sports, bitch!”
The family then heads down, where McCaffery is standing over Dan, holding a gun. Their daughter, Nina, reasons with her grandfather to remove their differences and become a family again. This was an effort to distract her grandfather. Dan then uses a metal pole to knock away the gun, and then his father is out cold.
