After having her big break in the 1997 film, The Devil’s Advocate, Charlize Theron has starred in multiple blockbusters and has given several iconic performances over the years.
Her remarkable performances have also landed the actress numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Actress for her 2004 film Monster. However, she is not proud of all her work in Hollywood, and the 2000 crime thriller is one of her films the actress does not prefer to talk about.

During a 2008 interview with Esquire, Theron opened up about why she despises the 2000 film Reindeer Games and revealed the only positive aspect of working on the movie for her.
Charlize Theron Does Not Like Her 2000 Film
In 2000, Charlize Theron starred alongside Ben Affleck in the crime thriller Reindeer Games. The film follows Rudy Duncan, who impersonates his cellmate who dies in a prison riot, to meet his girlfriend and gets enforced in a robbery afterward. Directed by the late filmmaker John Frankenheimer, Reindeer Games bombed at the box office and was also review-bombed by critics.

And along with the audience and critics, one of the lead stars of the movie also shared the same opinion about it. During an interview with Esquire, the actress ended up talking about her movies that she did not like, and the 2000 film was the one she named during the interview.
“Reindeer Games. That was a bad, bad, bad movie,” she shared. However, there was still one thing the Mad Max star shared that she did not regret doing the film, as it gave her the opportunity to work with the film director John Frankenheimer.
Charlize Theron Wanted to Work With John Frankenheimer
Although she despised the 2000 film Reindeer Games, Charlize Theron shared that she was glad she got the opportunity to work with the film and television director John Frankenheimer. The late director is known for his immense contribution to cinema with projects like The Manchurian Candidate and Seconds.

Reindeer Games was his last feature-length project before he passed away in 2002. Talking about the legendary director, Theron said, “But even though the movie might suck, I got to work with John Frankenheimer.” She further shared,
“I wasn’t lying to myself — that’s why I did it. I mean, he directed The Manchurian Candidate, which is like the movie of all movies. F*ck regret. Just f*ck it.”

Although the 2000 film was not the best addition to Frankenheimer’s filmography, the director did not regret making the movie and advised people to think about the film’s characters after watching it.
