With the Ted prequel series missing Wahlberg as his character from the films, MacFarlane shines light on why it couldn’t be made possible.

Seth MacFarlane Shifts The Blame To Mark Wahlberg On Why Ted Show Won't Feature Him

SUMMARY

Peacock will soon be streaming the prequel TV series of the Ted films with Seth MacFarlane reprising his role as the talking teddy bear.
Among the cast, Mark Wahlberg will not be making an appearance on the show as John Bennett from the films.
MacFarlane says that due to the star’s tight schedule with his films, it was almost impossible to bring him on the show.

One of the most polarizing, yet equally entertaining stuffed toys from the big screen has just made his debut on the silver-screen thanks to Seth MacFarlane creating a Ted prequel series.

The show is all set to bring back the magic of the original films, including the foul-mouth and R-18 humor that we all came to love and cherish.

But one notable member of the cast who will inadvertently make their absence be felt is none other than Mark Wahlberg, who played the role of John Bennett in the film series.

And as a response to the question of why we won’t see Wahlberg in the show, MacFarlane said that because of his tight schedule, bringing him in a show was a pipe dream from the beginning.

While it may have been almost a decade since we last saw Seth MacFarlane bring the foul-mouth and unfiltered stuffed bear to life in the Ted film series, many still remember those films like they were yesterday as they became timeless in their own rights. But now, fans can rejoice as Ted will be returning to the small screen to wreak some havoc there as well.

Of course, it’s not all jolly news since fans will surely be missing Mark Wahlberg in the show, which even the Family Guy star knew would be the problem, and it’s because of the star himself. In a recent interview with The Wrap, MacFarlane revealed that he created the show as a prequel to the films because he knew he couldn’t get the Transformers: The Last Knight star on the show because of his tight schedule.

Wahlberg has so many films to take care of that it becomes almost impossible for him to juggle between his cinematic projects and silver-screen endeavors, especially the ones that do not have a predetermined end. MacFarlane said:
“The practical reason is Mark Wahlberg’s schedule. He’s got a million movies he’s working on at any given time, and so getting him to do a television series — his schedule just doesn’t permit that, let alone something that potentially goes for more than one season. It’s just tough, It doesn’t take too long to get to the idea of a prequel once you’re looking at that reality.”
Wahlberg as John will surely be missed in the show, and that is why Max Burkholder, the star who plays the younger version of him has big shoes to fill.

Going all the way back to the early days when John and Ted were just trying to navigate the world of High School, Ted gives us the origin story of both of these lovable characters.

The show features The Bennett Family, who lives along with an inappropriate talking teddy bear in the suburbs of Boston. Since John will be starting his High School soon, the family advises Ted to join him along for the ride, seeing as both of them are best friends. But once school starts, they realize that their friendship will be tested in more ways than one.
