Despite being a pioneer of woman power in Hollywood, Charlize Theron faced her share of misogyny in the industry from her male counterparts. In an earlier interview, the Oscar winner spoke candidly about the challenges she endured in a male-dominated environment, including being treated like an object and belittled multiple times.

Charlize Theron Was Objectified For Being A Woman In Hollywood

Charlize Theron is one of Hollywood’s top stars today thanks to her perseverance, hard work, and immense talent. But the journey to the pinnacle was peppered with many challenging experiences for the Monster actor mainly due to the fact she was a woman. Elaborating on the various moments in which she was taken advantage of and made to feel small by many male directors, Theron said,
“And I remember one movie in particular, this male director who just kept bringing me in, fitting after fitting after fitting after … And it was just so obvious that it was to do with my sexuality and how f**kable they could make me in the movie.”

Theron added that when she was an upcoming actor in Hollywood, there were no conversations about what constituted appropriate behavior towards women. The celebrity who initially created a furor to speak up against this unfair treatment of women said that her tactic changed as she became older and wiser. Theron now believes that honest and straightforward dialogue to get her point across is more effective than screaming from the rooftops.

Charlize Theron Is Back For The Old Guard 2

Charlize Theron will reprise her role as the leader of a group of immortal mercenaries in the sequel to the 2020 film The Old Guard. The Old Guard 2 which is expected to release on Netflix sometime in 2023, is also produced by Theron. The South African star was enthusiastic and hopeful for the film and said,
“I’m excited about our team coming back and having had all this time to really think about what we want the next story to be. It’s a big ask to want everybody involved to do action that’s raising the bar of what we did last time. It takes time and energy and effort and everybody has put that forth. I want to see the fruits of that labor.”
