Celebrity couple Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly continue to show off their whirlwind romance. However, this latest moment from the 2021 Video Music Awards might just be more cringe than romantic according to fans.

Sunday, September 12 saw fans from all over the world go wild over their favorite musical artists as the VMAs returned for a star-studded spectacle. With special performances from music icons such as Alicia Keys, Foo Fighters, and Lil Nas X, it is safe to say the award show was one for the history books. However, amongst legendary performances and wild outfits, one moment, in particular, stirred up quite a debate amongst fans.

The controversy stemmed from a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight in which Megan Fox discussed her outfit beside rocker boyfriend, Machine Gun Kelly, whose full name is Colson Baker. For the special event, the 35-year-old actor wore a skin-tight Thierry Mugler gown which left very little to the imagination, paired with a “bedazzled thong.”

As she spoke about the decision behind her outfit, Fox revealed that it was Baker who had called the shots in what he wanted to see her in for the event. Fox stated, “He was like ‘you’re gonna be naked tonight’ and I was like ‘whatever you say.’” However, as Fox continued, the conversation took a rather sexual and uncomfortable turn. She followed on to call Baker “daddy” before following up with, “whatever daddy says.”

As the interview came to its end, Fox and Baker were asked if fans would be seeing more collaborations between the pair when it came to Baker’s future music videos. Fox took the conversational reins as she answered with, “Yeah he’s not allowed to have other h*** in his music videos. It’s the queen or nothing.” To which Baker just laughed beside her.

Following the interview, many took to Twitter to express their discontent with Fox’s behavior. Branding her answers as “cringe,” commentators believed that the actress must have been playing up to a role as her behavior seemingly differed from her usual one.

One critic wrote, “I’m sorry but everyone who is obsessed with their relationship and thinks they are “goals” is ridiculous. There is something seriously off about them together. Hopefully, I’m wrong but I doubt that.”

Whilst another mentioned, “She seems like she’s trying really hard to seem 21.”

Others questioned the pair’s dynamic as they speculated the reasoning behind her strange behavior and the relationship in general.

However other fans were quick to gush over the couple. Branding them as “relationship goals”, fans defended Fox as they pointed out how her happiness should be the only thing that matters.

One fan wrote, “Happy to see her happy, free. That humor of hers and making her the role of savage queen suits her better than seeing her with low self esteem and doubting herself like a few years ago. They’re so hot and what you think about them matters the least as long as u let them be happy.”
