In a 2020 interview with The Guardian, Mark Wahlberg opened up about his career path and reflected on some of his achievements.

Wahlberg was promoting his film, Spenser Confidential, an action comedy film. While The Basketball Diaries actor has numerous films from different genres to his name, he revealed rom-coms to be his next big aspiration.

However, Wahlberg has one condition to take on the role in a rom-com film. He shared that the film should not have any singing or dancing for his part.

The Lone Survivor actor had done his fair share of singing and dancing in films like Rock Star and Daddy’s Home. However, he shared that he felt ridiculous during such scenes and described them as his least favorite thing to do. Wahlberg shared with The Guardian:
“I’d be into it! But nothing with singing and dancing in it. I’m not doing a musical. I’ve had to sing and dance more than I’ve wanted to… in films.

And it’s my least favourite thing to do. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not really self-conscious and I’m not scared to look vulnerable, or risk looking ridiculous, but I don’t know… I feel ridiculous when I’m dancing and singing.”
Interestingly, before he entered the film industry, Wahlberg had tried his luck in the music industry. While he entered the music arena through his brother Donnie Wahlberg’s boy band ‘New Kids on the Block’, it was his hip-hop group ‘Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’ that earned him a reputation.
