Being one of the top celebs in the industry has earned Mark Wahlberg a fortune from the projects he is involved in, even if the project itself might not end up living up to the expectations.

Although the Father Stu star has been responsible for several classics, the actor’s name has also been attached to some projects that weren’t even able to break despite the actor’s inclusion.

After collaborating with Michael Bay for Pain & Gain, Mark Wahlberg soon joined forces with Bay to replace Shia LaBeouf as the lead of the highly successful Transformers franchise. Although the first project with Wahlberg in this franchise did end up as a success, the next one struggled to break even, but Wahlberg’s paycheck wasn’t hampered by it.

Mark Wahlberg Reportedly Set a Record, Walked Away With $60,000,000 Despite Movie Suffering $100M Loss
Transformers: The Last Knight‘s low box office total didn’t affect Michael Wahlberg’s paycheck

After the success of Transformers: Age of Extinction, which despite its low critical reception, went on to make a billion at the box office, the sequel of this installment didn’t get the same response. According to reports, 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight, comprising Mark Wahlberg at its forefront didn’t even manage to break even despite making around $605 million from its theatrical run.

Considering the budget for the movie was estimated to be around $217-260 million without the additional expenses for marketing, the movie reportedly suffered a whopping $100 million loss. Although the movie did struggle to make its money back, Mark Wahlberg didn’t have to face much trouble following the movie’s failure. Reports claimed the Pain & Gain star made around $60 million for his work in The Last Knight, a hefty inclusion in his reported $400 million fortune.

Mark Wahlberg once landed into controversy after earning $1.5M for reshoots

But this isn’t the only time the actor made bank from a project that didn’t end up doing well financially, as back in the same year, Mark Wahlberg had a similar experience in All the Money in the World. Even though the movie struggled at the box office, ending up with a collection of around $57 million from an estimated budget of $50 million, the actor did receive a healthy paycheck. Following the reshoots for the film, Wahlberg reportedly received $1.5 Million, whereas his Co-Star Michelle Williams received just $1000 for returning for the reshoots.

As a result, the actor did end up donating his paycheck for the reshoots to Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in his costar’s name, as he spoke out against the issue of the gender pay gap. He stated,
“It didn’t take much to make the decision to donate the money. It was just the right thing to do, you know? And Michelle is a fantastic actress”

Although these movies did not end up making what the studios initially expected, Wahlberg did his best to save the projects, and in the case of The Last Knight, he did his best with the material he was given.
