Julia believes that marrying the right person, having two bathroom sinks, and lots of kissing hello and goodbye are important for a happy marriage.

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder have been one of Hollywood’s strongest couples since they tied the knot in 2002. However, according to a new report, the pair almost called it quits on their relationship while going through a rough patch in recent years.

Speaking to OK! Magazinea source says that despite the challenges they’ve faced, Julia and Danny remain united. “They’ve been through so much to find solid ground, but they’re closer than they ever were,” the insider explained.

The source added that the pair were “close” to a break-up but have been able to work on their relationship as well as individually. “A lot of it was Julia calming down and realizing she needed to stop trying to control everything, which is her nature,” they went on. “Even though Danny is so mellow, it was affecting him.”

“Some things are more important,” they continued. “Family comes first. She’s still passionate and he’s still chill, but their personalities complement each other now.”
The source claims that Julia and Danny disagreed on where to live with their family full-time. While the Pretty Woman actress apparently prefers to call Los Angeles home, Roberts-Moder clan currently resides in San Francisco.

Julia and Danny have been the subject of divorce rumors for years, including earlier this month, when one report claimed they were living separately, despite sharing three teenage children.

“They seem to be living separate lives,” one source claimed, estimating a divorce between the long-time couple could cost $250 million. “Friends fear that after years of ups and downs, this is finally the end. It feels like they just gave up.”

The same insider said that Julia’s career has always been a source of contention in their relationship. “Danny was always of the belief that Julia [still] put her career ahead of his and he resented it,” they said.

Apparently, Julia pushed for the family to move to San Francisco, which further strained their marriage.

“She overruled Danny’s objections and ran with it. She was passionate about renovating and moving the family there so the kids could go to school with the children of tech tycoons, not entitled Hollywood kids,” they explained.
“Danny resisted the move. His career is in LA, plus he wanted to be in Southern California to stay closer to his family. He did move, though, but it was to appease Julia, who pretty much put her foot down on the matter,” the source added.
During an appearance on The View last month, Julia opened up about what she believes makes her marriage work, and a lot of it has to do with the functionality of the house, she claims.

“My sister, who has been married for 25 years or 26 years, I think, she says the secret to a happy marriage is two bathroom sinks and two phone lines. Two sinks is important,” she explained.

“I think marrying the right person is important, I think lots of kissing hello and goodbye is really, I think, a critical detail to daily life,” Julia added.
