Following Megan Fox’s rise to stardom after performing in the Transformers franchise, screenwriter Diablo Cody, who was engrossed in making a horror flick, found Fox as the perfect actress for his vision. Although Fox might have been the first and only choice for Cody’s Jennifer’s Body, the actress herself later expressed that she was nervous about performing in the ambitious project.

Even though she did garner immense success through her role in the Transformer franchise, Fox was stressed about her role in the horror flick, as the movie’s quality would depend on her performance.

Despite her fascination and admiration for Diablo Cody and his script for 2009’s Jennifer’s Body, Megan Fox wasn’t assured if she would be able to do the film justice. Considering that her acting skills were never tested to the limit before as Transformer’s special effects would hide her potential as an actress.

But unlike Michael Bay’s movie, Cody’s project would solely depend on the shoulders of the Till Death actress, which made her nervous. She expressed her worries by stating,

“It might be a complete failure on my part. But the fact that I had to really put myself out there is totally different than being able to hide behind the magic of ILM, which did special effects for Transformers… There’s nothing there to distract you from my performance.

So if it’s bad, it’s going to be f***ing bad for me. And if it’s good, then I will have achieved something on some level.”

Unfortunately, upon its release, the movie was both critically and financially tanked. And it not only took a toll on Fox but the whole cast too was impacted by the movie’s failure. Adam Brody later opened up about the failure of the movie and blamed the marketing for it.

Adam Brody blamed the marketing for the failure of Jennifer’s Body

After expressing the disappointment that everyone felt following the bad reviews, Adam Brody, who played the role of Nikolai Wolf in the movie, explained his reasoning for the movie’s failure.

According to him, one major factor that resulted in the movie’s failure was the marketing for the film, which mostly focused on Megan Fox’s appearance rather than the actual content of the film. As a result, it created an unreal expectation for the audiences and eventually failed at the box office. Brody said,

“[The marketing] couldn’t have missed the mark harder. The film was a marketing person’s dream, and then to see them do that. Part Goosebumps, part Maxim. It’s not even anything she wears in the movie.”
