Mark Wahlberg is undoubtedly one of the most talented superstars of all time. Wahlberg may be known among the masses in the present as a great actor but the superstar began his career by being a part of the rock band. Talking about his early days, one can hardly forget to mention Wahlberg’s tattoos which covered a major part of his body back in the day.

These tattoos are visibly missing from The Fighter star’s body at present. Wahlberg took a moment to discuss his reasons for removing all these tattoos from his body as he highlighted the scrutinizing process of his tattoo removal journey.

The Departed star even shared that he made his kids witness this painful removal in the hope to make them cautious of their decisions of getting inked.

Mark Wahlberg On His Painful Tattoo Removal Journey

Mark Wahlberg has had his fair share of tattoos, with eight or nine, covering his body. However, he shared that the painful journey of their removal was a decision that he made as he grew older and wiser.

Contrary to the recommended time frame of five to seven years with multiple treatment visits, Wahlberg opted for a more accelerated approach. He underwent the removal process in approximately seven months, enduring the excruciating pain.
“I had, like, eight or nine. They went all the way around my neck, my stomach, my arms, my back, my leg…It took me five years to get all of the tattoos removed.

And it’s dreadfully painful. 1000% cause it’s like hot bacon grease getting flicked on you over and over again. Now hopefully they have developed technology more and more but when I got it done I was trying to get it done before I shot The Fighter and the dermatologist told me to 5-7 visits and it was like 5 to 7 years, and I went once a month.”

Mark Wahlberg On Making His Children A Part Of His Tattoo Removal Journey

The Perfect Storm star took the opportunity to caution his children about tattoos. In a bid to discourage them from getting inked, he even brought his children along to witness his arduous laser appointments.

However, it seems like the efforts of the Ted star became futile, as his daughter, Ella Rae Wahlberg, still ended up with two tattoos. Wahlberg acknowledged that sometimes people need to figure things out for themselves.
“I thought, you know what, I’m not really supposed to mark my body. I was trying to really also get them removed, work, and for personal and professional reasons. So, I took my children. My daughter now has two tattoos, my eighteen-year-old. So, it didn’t work. You gotta figure things out for yourself.”
