The closest he came to marriage was his engagement to Molly Hurwitz, whom he had dated for two years but later went separate ways, as things did not work out between them.

Before Hurwitz, the actor had dated Julia Roberts from 1995 to 1996, Yasmine Bleeth in 1996, Neve Campbell in 1998, Maeve Quinlan from 2002-2003, Lauren Graham in 2003, Rachel Dunn from 2003 to 2005, and Lizzy Caplan from 2006 to 2012. However, he could not settle with any of them as he had been fearful of relationships.
Matthew Perry talked more about his fear of relationships after the release of his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. During an exclusive interview with People, he stated how his fear of being committed to someone in a relationship prevented him from tying the knot, and he would often find flaws that would make him hate his other half.
“That was me afraid. That is what I manifest, something that’s wrong with them. And then I break up with them. But there can’t be something wrong with everyone. I’m the common denominator. I left first because I thought they were going to annihilate me.”

Perry acknowledged that he “had a tremendous amount of fear” about love. However, he has overcome that fear as he has worked hard on it, he went on to share his thoughts that he has no interest in being with someone who is not scared by the things that scared him once.
“I’m going to learn as I go. The thing that’s changed about me is I have no interest in hanging out with somebody that I don’t know or somebody that I’m not that into. The next person I really take seriously is somebody that I’m going to be in love with and not be scared by the things that used to scare me.”
While the actor overcame his fear, he could not get himself to settle with someone, as he was not married before he left us at the early age of 54.
How did Matthew Perry Die?
As per reports from TMZ, law enforcement sources told them that Matthew Perry was found dead on Saturday in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home.
The anonymous sources shared that paramedics rushed immediately after they received a call for a cardiac arrest. However, no drugs or foul play is suspected that might have taken the life of the actor. Hence, he apparently drowned in his hot tub, as he was found unresponsive at the scene.

While the authority is finding the real cause of Perry’s death, the world grieves his loss as the official Twitter account of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. tweeted how they’re devastated by the loss of the star, and how he was a “true gift to us all.”
Though he has left us too soon, his legacy will remain behind and fans will look at his iconic roles forever cherishing him as a beloved actor and a charming personality he was.
