Charlize Theron has now established herself among the top-notch actors in Hollywood by winning hearts with her dynamic roles. Due to her immense hard work, she was able to grab Clea’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with her appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

During her Variety Actors on Actors interview with Michael B. Jordan, she shared her experience watching the 2018 film for the first time.

“That movie broke so many glass ceilings across the board. Not just the fact that there are women in power and that they’re black, beautiful, strong African-American women, African women… I got something very cathartic out of that,” she said. “I mean it’s so empowering to watch that movie.”

The soft spot for the film also comes from the fact that she acknowledged the anger and guilt in her 20s and 30s that she felt from her childhood. While she has faced several hardships in her life, her experience with the discriminatory practices of South African apartheid led her to therapy.

“It’s so much more than just whether you’re from Africa or whether you’re African-American,” she said. “It’s such a bigger thing than that.”

While she already shares quite an emotional bond with the MCU franchise, her return to the franchise is still an intriguing question among fans.

Charlize Theron has already kicked off her superhero career in a credits scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She was seen portraying, Clea alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular hero to take him on a new adventure.

But since then, we’ve heard nothing of her return to the MCU. While promoting her new film, Fast X, she talked with MTV’s Josh Horowitz and shared having no idea of her return to the franchise.

I don’t. No, I haven’t gotten a call.” She added, “I’ve not gotten a [call], Is that bad? No, I’m not lying. I haven’t gotten a call. Is that bad?”

Though she is yet to be informed about her character’s future in Doctor Strange 3, it can happen anytime since Marvel is best at keeping secrets. Given that Clea and Doctor Strange have quite a deep bond in the Marvel canon, it is for sure that the franchise has planned something for them in the live adaptation.
