Reese Witherspoon Was Uncomfortable While Filming Fear

In 1996, Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg starred in Fear, a dark psychological thriller about a young teenager who discovers her lover’s dark side.

While the film was a stepping stone for both stars to reach greater heights in Hollywood, Witherspoon, then only 19, confessed that she had some uncomfortable experiences in the film that made her time on set a tough one.

Speaking of a particular scene in which her character had to make love on a roller coaster, the Oscar-winning revealed that she had requested a body double as she was reluctant to film the scene.

The segment which wasn’t explicit in the script, ended up being a rather graphic one which Witherspoon was against doing. The actor though, wasn’t given a choice to back down.

“It wasn’t explicit in the script that that’s what was going to happen, so that was something that I think the director thought of on his own and then asked me on set if I would do it, and I said no. I didn’t have control over it. It wasn’t a particularly great experience.”

Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde 3 Is In The Works

In June 2018, Reese Witherspoon who played the iconic Elle Woods in the first two Legally Blonde films, confirmed that she will be reprising her role in a third installment of the beloved franchise.

Cut to 2023, the film is yet to see the light of day but the Sweet Home Alabama star is reported to have said that it is very much in the works though official filming is yet to begin. Sending out a message to eager fans to hold on to their patience for just a while longer, the Oscar winner released a statement saying,

“They waited a long time to make another version of that movie, and I loved the nostalgia piece they incorporated in it. That gave us a lot of inspiration about what we would want to do with Elle Woods and make sure that we had all those same touchstones that mattered to people [back] then”.

Witherspoon also added that she valued the characters in the films like her own family and wanted to ensure that Legally Blonde 3 will honor all of them in the best way possible. The star was also determined to make a film of the highest quality while leaving no room for mediocrity.
