SUMMARY

“Two for the Money” brings together Daniel Craig and Charlize Theron as career thieves in a high-stakes heist thriller.
Director Justin Lin, known for “Fast & Furious” films, will helm the project, promising thrilling action sequences.
Apple Original Films won the bidding war for the movie, adding another big-budget project with A-list talent to their lineup.

Action movie icons Daniel Craig and Charlize Theron will unite in the upcoming heist thriller, Two for the Money. And if that were not enough to have you excited about seeing these two huge talents punch, shoot, and quip their way through ever-escalating danger, Two for the Money will be helmed by none other than Fast Five and F9 director Justin Lin.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Two for the Money will follow “the evolution of a relationship between two career thieves, to be played by Theron and Craig, over the course of three big jobs.” More specific details are currently being kept under lock and key (no doubt in the kind of safe that only Craig and Theron’s duo could break into), but really, what else do you need to know?

Two for the Money has now been picked up by Apple Original Films following what has been described as “a multi-studio bidding war,” and sees the studio and their platform Apple TV+ continue to add big budget projects starring A-list talent to their ever-growing roster.

As well as being directed by Justin Lin, the Fast & Furious 6 director has co-written the script alongside Dan Mazeau, who also helped Lin write the script for recent action sequel Fast X. A film that Lin rather infamously walked away from.

In fact, the idea behind Two for the Money was born during the pair’s time on Fast X, who pitched the project to Charlize Theron, who returned as part of the large Fast and Furious ensemble cast. The Academy Award-winning actress reportedly “fell for the story’s Cary Grant-Rosalind Russell snappy rapport vibe,” and is the one who suggested that 007 himself, Daniel Craig, be brought in as “her guy Friday.”

Charlize Theron Is Currently Filming The Old Guard 2

Charlize Theron, of course, has ample experience in the action genre. Theron has demonstrated her affinity for action and solidified her legacy as an action hero in the likes of Aeon Flux, Atomic Blonde, the Fast and Furious franchise, Hancock, and The Old Guard, with her most beloved action role being that of Imperator Furiosa in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. A prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is now set for release in May 2024, however Theron will not reprise the role due to the story being a prequel. Instead, The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy will take over the role.

Theron is next due to star in the action sequel, The Old Guard 2, for Netflix. Directed by Victoria Mahoney, and from a screenplay by Greg Rucka, The Old Guard 2 will once again be based on Rucka’s comic book of the same name.

Starring Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, Vân Veronica Ngô, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding, The Old Guard 2 will pick up with Theron’s Andy as she leads a team of immortal mercenaries.

Craig, meanwhile, has left his licence to kill behind for good following the release of No Time to Die in 2021. The actor recently returned as investigator Benoit Blanc in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and is next due to star in Queer from director Luca Guadagnino.
