After getting her foot in acting in the most unlikely way possible, Charlize Theron has become one of the best in the business. The actress is involved with multiple franchises, including the MCU, and she has reached unprecedented heights, all while earning rave reviews for her work on screen.

Working on set is never easy, and Theron herself has admitted that she is not always the easiest to work with. However, while filming Mad Max: Fury Road, things got nasty between Theron and Tom Hardy. In fact, the actress felt that she was in danger, and that she needed protection from her co-star.

Charlize Theron Requested Protection From Tom Hardy While Filming Mad Max: Fury Road

According to People, things were tense between Theron and Tom Hardy. After Hardy was late, Theron got in his ear about it, which prompted the actor to charge at her.

From that point, Theron wanted protection.

Said Theron, “It got to a place where it was kind of out of hand, and there was a sense that maybe sending a woman producer down could maybe equalize some of it, because I didn’t feel safe.”

Theron also talked about how scared she was.

“I don’t want to make excuses for bad behavior, but it was a tough shoot. Now, I have a very clear perspective on what went down. I don’t think I had that clarity when we were making the movie. I was in survival mode; I was really scared s——-.”

Hardy has since spoken on his experience, and he admitted that he should have been better for his co-star.

“The pressure on both of us was overwhelming at times. What she needed was a better, perhaps more experienced partner in me. That’s something that can’t be faked. I’d like to think that now that I’m older and uglier, I could rise to that occasion,” the actor noted.

Eventually, production wrapped up, the pair moved on, and the world got to enjoy the cinematic delight that is Mad Max: Fury Road.

For Hardy, this marks another occasion of things getting heated with a co-star.

Tom Hardy Has Had Problems On Other Sets

A while back, a story emerged of Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf getting physical on set. It was alleged that Shia even knocked Hardy out cold.

LaBeouf, however, had a different take.

“We used to f*** with each other all the time but it just so happened that, this one week, my girlfriend was in town and he runs into the room. The girl I was with at the time was terrified. She covered up and she ran into the kitchen and he picked me up and I didn’t have nothing on so now I’m naked on his shoulder. We’re in the hallway, we’re wrestling around.”

Eventually, Hardy fell down several flights of stairs, but that didn’t stop the actor from telling everyone that Shia beat him up.

“For the rest of the shoot, he told everybody I knocked him out,” Shia said.

Charlize Theron had a tough time with Tom Hardy, and given what Hardy had to say following her story, we’d like to think that he has become better to work with on tough sets.
