Mark Wahlberg worked with 19-year-old Reese Witherspoon in the 1996 thriller Fear. While their performance was praised and their chemistry helped create a suspenseful narrative, the movie earned good responses from the critics. However, Witherspoon had a hard time working especially during the intimate scene between the two leads on a rollercoaster.

In a recent interview with Harper Bazaar, Witherspoon revealed,
“I didn’t have control over it. It wasn’t explicit in the script that that’s what was going to happen, so that was something that I think the director thought of on his own and then asked me on set if I would do it, and I said no. It wasn’t a particularly great experience.”
While she didn’t feel traumatized by the scene, it was certainly a formative experience for her. It helped her realize the way the film industry tends to treat young women and women in general and finally helped her become an ‘agent for change‘. Her experiences finally led her to establish her own production company Hello Sunshine, dedicated to making exclusively female-led stories.

Kate Moss worked with Mark Wahlberg on an underwear ad for Calvin Klein. While the ad become one of the most iconic ones in the fashion industry, Moss revealed she hated working with Wahlberg and the rest. Just 17 years old at that time, she felt objectified, vulnerable, and scared as she posed topless for the shoot.
“I think they played on my vulnerability. I was quite young and innocent, so Calvin loved that… I really didn’t feel well at all before the shoot.”
On her experience with working with Wahlberg, Moss said,
“It didn’t feel like me at all. I felt really bad about straddling this buff guy. I didn’t like it. I couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die.”
While Mark Wahlberg commented that he didn’t know how Moss felt about the shoot, he revealed that they had exchanged pleasantries a couple of times years later.
