In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Mark Wahlberg opened up about his new fitness routine that gives more importance to rest. He was earlier known for an intense workout routine regimen of twice a day, seven days a week.
However, he now rests for two days, working out only once a day. Wahlberg also urges his fans to avoid this one mistake of not allowing sufficient time for recovery.
The Ted actor’s three tips—eat right, exercise, and rest—serve as pillars for leading a healthy lifestyle. Wahlberg emphasizes that mental relaxation is as important as physical relaxation, dismissing the idea of a “boot camp type of existence”.
The Spenser Confidential actor stressed on the importance of having fun and rewarding oneself for hard work. He added that it was all about finding the right balance between routines and rest. Wahlberg told Fox News Digital:
“Eat right, exercise and rest, and you know what? You have to find balance. You don’t want to live a boot camp type of existence. You want to be able to go out, have fun, reward yourself for your hard work.
I think everybody wants to go celebrate their accomplishments as they should be able to. Then you get up the next day and you get after it and I think finding a nice balance and a nice routine is the key.”
The Uncharted actor also provided insights into his daily routine. Wahlberg revealed waking up before everyone to focus on quiet time and use it to express gratitude and reflect on the day ahead.
Following this, he engages in a cold plunge, a practice he learned from a friend. The Infinite actor would next hit the gym, before concluding his morning routine with reading a prayer book.

The Patriots Day actor shared that while it was challenging to get in the ice-cold water, especially in the low Las Vegas temperatures, he felt pretty good after the plunge. Wahlberg shared with Fox News Digital:
“The feeling that you have, it’s pretty good. It’s definitely something that I look forward to in the morning, not necessarily getting in, but the feeling I have after for sure.”
Wahlberg clarified that the cold plunge and two days of rest are aimed at promoting longevity. He revealed that he wanted to prolong his life rather than risk injury in the pursuit of getting bigger and stronger. Wahlberg shared:
“Taking a cold plunge and doing that, resting two days a week and really kind of just focusing on being able to move and feel good for the long haul and hopefully drag this beautiful thing called life for as long as possible, as opposed to just worrying about aesthetically trying to get bigger and stronger and then ultimately getting injured.”
