Macaulay Culkin, Haley Joel Osment or Frankie Muniz were once stars who dominated the world’s cinema capital but now no longer appear much.

1. Macaulay Culkin (born 1980)

At the peak of his career, Culkin was the most famous child actor in the world, was a close friend of the King of Pop Michael Jackson and was paid a huge salary of 4.5 million USD when participating in  Home Alone 2  in 12 year old. Culkin burst onto the scene with the work  Home Alone  in 1990. In this fun film, he played Kevin McCallister – who was forgotten by the whole family during a trip – leaving him alone at home and forced to Use your wits to deal with two evil thieves. The film was a huge success when it became the best-selling comedy of all time…

Macaulay Culkin is a typical example of the “early blooming, early fading” of Hollywood child stars.

Years later, Culkin’s career went downhill and he was last seen on the big screen in 2007 with the low-budget film  Sex and Breakfast . Alcohol, heroin and cigarettes (smoking up to 60 cigarettes a day) made Culkin look miserable and caused his lover of 8 years Mila Kunis to break up with him in 2010. Nowadays, people can see Culkin doing DJ at New York nightclubs or turn on the TV screen every Christmas Eve to rewatch his classic role as Kevin.

2. Haley Joel Osment (born 1988)

After appearing as Forrest Gump’s son in the 1995 Oscar-winning film, Haley Joel Osment made a name for himself as Cole Sear in  The Sixth Sense . Acting next to veteran actor Bruce Willis, Osment did not appear shy or scared. His role is a boy with telepathic abilities who can see ghosts. The Sixth Sense grossed nearly 700 million USD and brought Osment 24 big and small acting nominations, including the “Best Supporting Actor” Oscar.

When Haley Joel Osment grew up, his facial features were broken and he could no longer maintain the innocence and cuteness he had when he was a child.

Two years later, Osment continued to bring tears to the audience as the robot boy David in AI: The Artificial Intelligence  directed by Steven Spielberg. With such an impressive starting point, Osment now only participates in small films and is best known for his voice work in the  Kingdom Hearts game series .

3. Drew Barrymore (born 1975)

This is a case where a child star does not fall into the situation of “blooming quickly and fading quickly”. Rising to fame with the family sci-fi blockbuster ET directed by Steven Spielberg as little girl Gertie, Barrymore also went through a difficult period in her career. However, she still knew how to stand up and make her mark in the 1990s with notable films such as Batman Forever (1995), Scream (1996), Never Been Kissed (1999) or Charlie’s Angels (2000).

Once a famous child star, Drew Barrymore had to overcome many hardships during his youth to become what he is today.

In recent years, this star has been known as an actor specializing in romantic films, with typical representatives being 50 First Dates (2004) and Music and Lyrics (2007). After “two failed attempts”, she now lives happily with her children and third husband Will Kopelman.

4. Frankie Muniz (born 1985)

In the early 2000s, this actor with a friendly smile was very familiar to Vietnamese audiences through the television series Malcom in the Middle and the theatrical film Big Fat Liar (The King of Lies). . Bright and intelligent appearance gives Frankie Muinz the opportunity to take on talented, cunning roles.

5. Dakota Fanning (born 1994)

6. Lindsay Lohan (born 1986)

“The girl with many tricks” can be considered a female version of Macaulay Culkin because Lilo also soon became famous and was later engulfed in scandals like the Home Alone star . Her talent is unquestionable, as she once played two roles alone as twin sisters Hallie – Annie in the comedy film The Parent Trap . From a “child star”, Lindsay became a “teen movie queen” with subsequent hits such as Freaky Friday (2003) or Mean Girls (2004).

7. Abigal Breslin (born 1996)

8. Melissa Gilbert (born 1964)

Lasting from 1974 – 1983, the TV series Little House on the Prairie has become immortal with many generations of audiences. The film’s content tells the story of the Ingalls farmer family living on a vast prairie, along with many other families going through difficult days to reclaim the town of Walnut Grove.
