Golf Channel Announces Plans to Accommodate Caitlin Clark’s Superstardom

WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark is scheduled to take her talents to the golf course for a pro-am appearance at The Annika LPGA Tour event this coming week.

After serving as a panelist for the Women’s Leadership Summit on Tuesday, Nov. 12, Clark will play in the Wednesday Pro-Am on Nov. 13.

“I love golf so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting,” Clark said in a statement when the news of her participation was announced. “Gainbridge is a leader in supporting women’s sports and that’s clear through their commitment to me, this event, Billie Jean King, and Parity Week. I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika.

Clark is one of the sports world’s biggest stars following her historic debut season as an All-Star point guard for the Indiana Fever.

Everything Clark touches turns to TV-ratings gold, and Golf Channel plans to take full advantage of her participation in Wednesday’s pro-am.

Golf Channel is expanding its coverage to accommodate Clark’s superstardom. The network’s “Golf Today” show will begin 90 minutes earlier than usual on Wednesday and include live look-ins.

Clark’s pre-round warmup and mid-round interview will be live-streamed as she plays alongside LPGA superstar Nelly Korda.

Clark shattered several all-time WNBA records in her debut season as the league’s No. 1 overall pick. Her electrifying play on the court helped facilitate a huge spike in WNBA viewership across the board.

Clark is scheduled to tee off at 7 a.m. EST on Wednesday. She’ll play the front nine with Korda, then the back nine with host Annika Sorenstam.

Golf Channel’s coverage will begin at 11 a.m. EST.
