LeBron James’ lifestyle is well-known to many fans, he has been frugal at best. The 4 times NBA champion has several business ventures off the court, which make up the majority of his earnings, contributing to his $1.2 billion wealth.

Former basketball point guard, Dwyane Wade once called James the “cheapest guy” in the NBA. “He’s not an exact tipper, but he doesn’t use a cell phone off the boat if it’s no Wi-Fi,” he added humorously, saying that James avoids roaming. Responding to Wade’s statement, James hilariously said that it was “falsely true.”

“That is so, so falsely true. I’m not turning on roaming, I’m not buying no apps, I still got Pandora with commercials. So I’ll be listening to some great music at home with commercials… I’m not paying for it,” James told ESPN.

James does not play with money. Rather, he has been careful with his earnings. The NBA superstar has his share in several businesses, including sports teams, media production houses, and the food & beverage industry.

The Funniest LeBron James Scene With Bill Hader

LeBron James and Bill Hader in Trainwreck

Barry star Bill Hader appeared in Judd Apatow’s 2015 romance comedy Trainwreck, starring alongside Amy Schumer, Ezra Miller, Tilda Swinton, and Brie Larson. The movie also featured two athletes— WWE superstar John Cena and NBA legend James.

In a scene at a restaurant with Hader’s character, Dr. Aaron Conners was seen having an argument with the NBA legend over splitting the bill as Conners wanted James to pay because he was rich. However, James argued that it was not about his fortune, insisting on an equal split that would cherish their friendship.

Conners then proposed to pay the entire bill, but James refused as he believed splitting the bill would be the better idea. Conners gave the credit card to share the bill, but James realized that he had forgotten his wallet, and that prompted Hader’s character to use f-words.

It was essentially funny given the nature of the legend’s frugal lifestyle in real life. In the movie, James plays himself being a friend of Conners. Some reports indicate that comedian Chris Rock was on the set when James’s scenes were filmed, and he came up with several of the lines that the NBA star says in the film.

Trainwreck is available to stream on Max.
