However, just like everything else has a replacement, even James will someday have to say goodbye to his beloved sport and someone else will have to become the next face of the NBA.

So when the Lollipop hitmaker was recently asked who could potentially take up the place of the Los Angeles Lakers’ power forward, he replied Ja Morant is the best one for the job despite his numerous controversies.

Lil Wayne Names Ja Morant As The New Face Of NBA After LeBron James

LeBron James is the GOAT of NBA

Lil Wayne is a regular at NBA games and very vocal too. The rapper, on a recent appearance on the All The Smoke podcast (via Bleacher Report), had stated that LeBron James was the GOAT, much to the shock of many fans.

While James is certainly one of the best NBA has ever seen, still going strong at the age of 38, he would inevitably have to retire one day. So when Lil Wayne was asked during his recent conversation with Taylor Rooks, who would be the best player to take on James’ mantle, he replied (via X),

“To me, I think the obvious answer is Ja [Morant].”

While there is no doubt that Morant is an exceptionally stellar player, he has been among the most controversial NBA players of recent times.

The Memphis Grizzlies point guard recently came back after a 25-game suspension following his brandishing a firearm on Instagram Live.

While this wasn’t the first time he had done such an act, his past before his suspension also saw him get into arguments several times (via Forbes).

While it is true that Ja Morant has had a controversial past, the youngster has been extremely instrumental for the Memphis Grizzlies, often taking them to unexpected wins.

Yet many fans were shocked to have Lil Wayne state that Morant should be the next big thing in the NBA.

And so to quell the inevitable questions that would certainly be asked, the rapper revealed his real reasoning behind his controversial statement while talking to Taylor Rooks,

“The NBA is entertainment. It always has been. What I mean by that, there was a Michael Jordan, that was just like, God… Ja’s teams are actually competitive when he’s there, when’s he’s doing his thing.”

Meanwhile, as the fans debate whether he should be crowned the king of the NBA next or not, LeBron James is not retiring anytime soon for he has got a lot more in the tank to give (via The Athletic).

And even if Ja Morant, 24, is to be the new face of the NBA, he has a lot of time to make himself worthy by proving that he has changed.
