Cardi B and Offset have had a scary encounter with a man posing as a journalist outside of their home, prompting a call to the police.

In an undated video which went viral on Thursday (November 23), an unidentified man can be seen attempting to film the couple’s home in the tony Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs.

Security guards posted at the house first ask him to leave — with one even going so far as to put his hand in front of the man’s camera to prevent from further filming. When the trespasser refused to stop, the security detail call local law enforcement.

Upon the police’s arrival, the unidentified man continues to insist that he’s a journalist, and erroneously claims that the First Amendment allows him to “walk down the street and record.” The man then goes on to threaten the police officer with getting his personal information “because it’s public record.”

The so-called journalist, who has yet to be identified, was eventually removed by the police. Check out the recording below.

According to the Reporter’s Committee for the Freedom of the Press, the First Amendment right to record only permits for the “constitutional right to record government officials engaged in their duties in a public place,” including “the conduct of police occurring on public property” in the state of Georgia. The First Amendment, however, does not extend to recording private property, or to recording celebrities who are not in a public place.

The state of Georgia further prohibits the use of a camera “without the consent of all persons observed, to observe, photograph, or record the activities of another which occur in any private place and out of public view,” according to Ga. Code Ann. § 16-11-62(2).

As of this writing, it is unclear whether the man posing as a journalist has been arrested, whether he will be facing charges as a result of his trespass, or whether Cardi B and/or Offset will pursue legal recourse against the trespasser.

The incident marked the second time in as many days that Cardi B made headlines over a legal matter. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper is also ready to file paperwork after a stimulus scam cloned her voice for a video promoting “free” money.

Taking to Twitter/X on Wednesday (November 22), Bardi shared the clip that features a dub of her fake voice over a real video of her.

“Yo it’s ya girl Cardi and I’ma show you how to put $16,000 in your pocket right now for free!” AI Cardi says in the clip. “So pay attention! The state’s handing out these stacks to every single one of y’all.

You don’t even need a job! It’s all part of a stimulus-style program to help Americans get back on their feet. They’re sending out these health spending cards re-loaded with that green every single month!”

In her retweet, Cardi wrote: “AI is crazy smh….another lawsuit that fell right on my lap…I love easy money.”
